History on a Flat Bed

I saw a little bit of history on a flat bed truck the other day. It was a strange sight. I tried to pull over and get a photograph but missed it. I bet for most people that saw that big sign on the back of the flat bed they did not think much. However, what I saw was a little piece of the framework of Nampa literally driving away.

It was the Mercy Medical Sign.

I must confess that when I saw the Mercy Medical sign on the back of a flatbed truck it evoked a feeling of sadness. To tell the truth I am still not sure why I felt that way. I wonder if it is because for most of my career I have worked with individuals of an older generation. I have heard many people in their seventies and eighties talk about the good ole days with such great fondness.

Now I am doing it. So here I go.

I had personal miracles happen at Mercy Medical. I held both of my beautiful children in my arms for the very first time at this very hospital. My husband was born in this hospital. I had my tonsils removed in this hospital. So, strange as it may sound it did sadden my heart when the sign was driving down the road. It is weird when you see the town you grew up in changing. However, the other great lesson I have learned by hanging out with an older generation is that life is always changing. And this too shall pass and I will one day be creating memories in our new community hospital.

Here is a great link that talks about the heritage of Mercy Medical Center. http://www.mercynampa.org/about/pioneercaring.html
